to experiment with Moodle, an Open Source tool for Course management and Assessment
system (visit http://moodle.org for more information).
Participants generated question banks by employing the CAMP methodology. All the
material and software was shared on CDs making it a paperless FEP.
Participants were divided into four groups and were provided with Project Specification
of Employee Information System and were expected to develop the system using C with
embedded SQL. All participant groups have come up with well-defined design documents,
test plans and completed the project within the stipulated timelines.
The ‘Learn by Doing’ approach was used to provide clarity on the usage of the tools
during the intensive hands-on sessions. Apart from the usual step-by-step guidance
and walkthroughs, participants were asked to solve assignments and given also a
hands-on exam based on the training pattern. Pre and Post Online Assessment were
also done to gauge the knowledge gained during the workshop. Each of the sessions
was duly supported by relevant case studies, tools, project development and examples
from real-life problems and industry. Participants found the sessions quite motivating
