Click to View Dr. Ramesh Babu, AVP - E&R, inaugurated the workshop and set the context for the 49 faculty members from 25 partner colleges in Karnataka. Various interactive and informative events were held as part of the workshop which also featured several innovations Professors from National Program on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) addressed the participants on contemporary engineering education and ways to enhance interaction and learning. Later, Prof. Mangala Sunder, IIT-M, spoke to the participants via telecon, and Prof. Srinivasa from IIIT-B discussed the emerging trends in RDBMS, database design issues and methodologies of teaching RDBMS.
A PhD student at IIIT-B, Karthik shared his perspectives on research in RDBMS. This was followed by an interactive session on the importance of case studies and tips for creation of effective case studies. Participants engaged in various activities from www.csunplugged.com which showcased new and interesting ways of teaching. The Tools Group demonstrated JUnit, Subversion and TOAD – a tool for database developers.

Sudarshan Shastry, SI, and Hanumesh V. J from E&R provided production perspectives by sharing their experiences in the industry. The need for online assessments was stressed as an objective and convenient assessment method. Participants experimented with Moodle, an open source tool, on their systems, providing them with hands on experience

Participants also generated question banks by employing the CAMP methodology and Bloom’s Taxonomy. All the material and software were shared on CDs making it a paperless FEP.

Participants worked on an Integrated Project using C and Oracle and created an Employee Management System. Three of the six teams enhanced the project by adding several innovative features and the best team was awarded a memento.

Faculty members took an online assessment on the last day through the E&R assessment tool.The feedback from the participants was very encouraging and showed an increased level of awareness and enthusiasm regarding Campus Connect and related offerings. Dr. Ramesh Babu handed over certificates of participation to all the participants. The Campus Connect Team would like to thank all the speakers, CC admin team, CCD, ACC team, Security, Catering, Transport, Facilities and the ECC Teams at Bangalore for making this event successful.
