| Faculty Enablement Program FEP at Chandigarh |
Team Campus Connect at Chandigarh has successfully conducted a two-week Faculty Enablement Program (FEP) for 28 faculty members from 15 partner engineering colleges from 2008 November 3-14.
This Faculty Enablement Program brought together the several partnering partner engineering college faculty members ( from Rajasthan ,Rajasthan, Uttar pPradesh, Haryana ,Haryana, Punjab and NCR ) under one roof to discuss the coverage of the Foundation Program (FP) and plan actions for rollthe roll-out of the same same for students in their respective colleges for their students.
Sameer Goel, DC Head – Chandigarh, inaugurated the event. In his address, Sameer shared his views on Infosys’ role and the strategic importance of Campus Connect. Manoj Manuja, Manager -– E&R, Chandigarh DC Manager, presented on Education and Research – An Infosys Growth Engine. Dr. Ramesh Babu, AVP, E&R, presented gave a talk on Campus Connect Program – A program to enhance the quality and quantity of the IT Talent. Manisha from the Chandigarh Campus Connect team presented gave a presentation on the FEP – Framework and takeaways.
Highlights of the FEP
• Content walk-through for the nine generic courses of Infosys Foundation Program followed by brainstorming by faculties (divided into five groups) on all the courses
• Presentations of group discussions & FP deployment by the participants
• Presentation on Infosys network by Ayushman Sinha.
• Session on “Software Testing”, by Sameer Goel.
• Session on “Process Elements” by Sameer Goel.
• Session on “Software Programming: Bridging the gap between Industry and Academia” by Deepak Bhalla.
• Session on “OOC in Practice” by Sameer Goel and Manu Goel.
• Session on “Using an RDBMS – A practitioner’s View” by Girish Chhabra.
• Session on Global Delivery Model by Vivek.
• Session on “ Component Based Design “ by Jagdish Bhandarkar.
• Online assessments for all generic modules of the foundation program were conducted and the three best performers were rewarded during the closing ceremony.
• “Leveraging Campus Connect” – A session to share experiences of running FP Program in the colleges as well as the experience of executing a sabbatical in Infosys Chandigarh DC , was delivered by Dr Renu of UIET and Prof Deepak of Thapar University.
• Importance of soft skills in IT Industry was presented by Renu Vadhvani.
• Infosys Recruitment – Philosophy, Approach and Processes by Sudheer Mishra.
The E&R educators who delivered FEP sessions includes Ramesh Babu S. , Nirmalya Chaudhury , Mukundh N. , Tanmoy Bandyopadhyay, Bhupesh Deka , Venkata Bhanu , Sudheer Reddy , Alok Tiwari, Anoop Singh , and Ritesh Kumble
On the last day, a video conference on ‘Talent and Future of Industries‘ was arranged with R.N Prasad, A.V.P, E&R. Kuldeep Sharma, DC Manager- – CCD, Chandigarh, was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. Participation certificates were presented to all FEP participants. The high standards set during this FEP would not have been possible without the enthusiastic support from various IBUs and ECUs.
Overwhelming feedback was received from the participants giving full credit to the effectiveness of the program. Some of the feedback from the participants included:.
1. The discussion on real -time projects and process elements have really given us an overview of how the industry actually works
2. The brainstorming and group discussion parts were most interesting and something that we would definitely like to incorporate in our way of teaching.
3. We will definitely enable other faculty members in our college and start this program at the earliest
4. Thanks a lot to the Infosys team for giving us an Industry perspective which we really needed
